The heat and touring in Thailand and Cambodia with the grandsons was wearing us all down a bit.<\/strong> We were ready for some R & R. We flew on Bangkok Airways from Seam Reap, Cambodia, down to Bangkok, and after a layover we flew to the island<\/strong> of Koh Samui. This was a favorite destination over the years on numerous trips to Thailand.<\/strong> Our resort for this leg of our grandson adventure was <\/strong>Garrya Tongsai Bay Samui<\/strong><\/a>, a place new to us.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The boys wait for transport to their rooms as everything was very spread out.. Pictures and shrines for the King of Thailand are omnipresent in all public buildings and hotels.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cooling rain showers were a welcome sight after so many very hot and humid days traveling.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The upstairs lobby and restaurants are on a hill overlooking the bay below.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Marla and I splurged on a ocean view suite with pool. We were ready to just kick back and enjoy the views.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We enoyed with plunge pool.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The resort provides electric cart transport throughout the property, but we thought we would do some walking.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We passed the adults only pool. There was not an “adult” in sight.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mar walks up to the breakfast restaurant.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The beach and bay were wonderful!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the beachside restaurant for lunch and dinner.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The boys room was in the building by the pool.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was overcast at times, but we were just happy to be here.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You guessed it! I had to find a good Italian restaurant. Giulietta e Romeo<\/strong> was the perfect spot and the decor transported us back to Italy!<\/strong> Italian restaurants are very popular in Thailand,<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My Insalata Mista<\/strong> was superb!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The boys gave us a tour of their room.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their bathtub was on the deck<\/strong> with a great view.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stacy treated the four of us us to massages. This was the stepping stone entrance to the spa.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One day we had rain but we really wanted a swim. Vaughan met us at the pool. We were the ONLY people swimming that morning!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We loved the pool…rain or no rain!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

It was nice seeing the brothers having a little chat in the ocean.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our last night’s dinner at the resort. I caught a stomach bug of some sort so I didn’t eat much.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vaughan awaits our departure. We flew on Bangkok Airways direct Koh Samui to Singapore flight.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One interesting observation from Koh Samui was seeing the number of Russian tourists. This <\/strong>link<\/strong><\/a> shines a light on the reason. Russians have set up temporary residences in Thailand, with many escaping the war with Ukraine. Some travel to Thailand from connections in Istanbul and Dubai.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
