I have fallen in love with Spain’s Andalusia region. The history and diversity of the area is breathtaking! I’ll take you on a visual tour of the “white villages”, amazing Sentil de las Bodegas, fabulous Ronda, and finish with beautiful Marbella.<\/strong> On a future post we’ll visit fabulous Grenada and Seville.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rugged beauty of the <\/strong>“Parque Natural Sierra de Grazalema<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The road heads leads to a \u201cPueblos Blancos\u201d, or \u201cWhite Village\u201d<\/strong><\/strong> nestled in the mountains.<\/strong> There are a number of fascinating white-washed villages in this region.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A definite must on a trip to Andalusia is one of the most unusual places I’ve ever seen, \u201cSentinel de las Bodegas.\u201d Many of the buildings are literally under and into rock overhangs.<\/strong> The town\u2019s history dates back at least to the Roman period and possibly thousands of years earlier.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The beautiful city of Ronda is a must on any itinerary.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This aerial view shows the deep gorge (El Tajo) which separates the city\u2019s circa-15th-century new town from its old town, dating to Moorish rule. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Puente Nuevo”, <\/strong>or”New Bridge”, towers 390 feet above the canyon below. The building of the bridge commenced in 1751 and took until 1793 to complete. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The town has wonderful walkways for viewing the gorgeous surroundings and the valley below.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ronda has drawn many famous writers and artists over the years. Ernest Hemingway and Oscar Welles both spent time in Ronda. Statues for both men are in the Paseo de Blas Infante. <\/strong>Hemingway<\/strong> <\/a>loved Ronda & Anadalucia<\/strong> and some of his novels take place here.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Though bullfighting is banned in much of Spain, the rules are somewhat different in Andalucia.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After all the Andalucia exploring it is time for a relaxing seaside break.<\/strong> Marbella<\/strong> is a jewel on Spain\u2019s Costa del Sol<\/strong> with lovely beaches, international restaurants galore, an enchanting old town, and October weather in the mid-seventies.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
