George Town is the colorful, multicultural capital of the Malaysian island of Penang. Once an important Straits of Malacca trading hub, the city is known for its British colonial buildings, Chinese shophouses and mosques.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure Children from a nearby school serenaded us. We were so lucky to experience this! We travelled on pickup trucks to start the ride to the park. What seatbelts??? The &#8220;Tree Top Walk&#8221; took us high in the rain forest canopy. The climbing begins. The stairs and bridges are very well constructed for safety. Birdwatchers from China. Back on the road to the trailhead for a short hike. Off we go. Our guide warned us of hidden holes covered by bamboo leaves on the trail. Marla accidently stepped in one and bruised her ankle. It really was impossible to see it! The countryside in the park is very beautiful. The hot tea after the hike was served with honey from a nearby tree. We boarded the ferry for George Town on Penang Island. George Town is the colorful, multicultural capital of the Malaysian island of Penang. Once an important Straits of Malacca trading hub, the city is known for its British colonial buildings, Chinese shophouses and mosques. Views from the ferry. We chose a Trishaw tour. Lisa is excited for the tour. George Town is a World Heritage Site. The &#8220;Little India&#8221; area. Seh Tek Tong Cheah Kongsi is one of the oldest Hokkien clan associations in George Town, Penang, beginning in 1810.&nbsp; I&#8217;m joining the procession.
