I should be in a state of ecstasy about the inauguration today… while happily creating a new blog post about our “worldwide buying adventures for Wesco Fabrics”. I must apologize as I’m mired in the family politics of the past and I feel like I am in emotional quicksand. Yes, I know this is about ego and a little self-centered but reading over old letters and notes to stockholders has me in a tailspin! Where was the shredder when I needed it? I’ll get over myself and continue on my story soon. It is such a blessing to live with a therapist!
Let me refocus on what is important. I am of course beyond pleased with the events of yesterday. President Biden and his team will do everything humanly possible to heal the open wounds of our nation. If that weren’t enough they also have to work 24/7 on the worst intertwined and cascading crises of our time,…the pandemic, the economic collapse, inequality and racism, and…oh yes,…the climate catastrophe!
A majestic and healing elixir was listening to Amanda Gorman reciting her poem, “The Hill We Climb”, at the inauguration! I will share a few lines:
“We will not march back to what was, but move to what shall be: a country that is bruised but whole, benevolent but bold, fierce and free.
“We will rebuild, reconcile, and recover. And every known nook of our nation and every corner called our country, our people diverse and beautiful, will emerge battered and beautiful.”
And, Katy Perry lifted our spirits at the “Celebrate America” “Celebrate America” show.
“Cause baby, you’re a firework…It’s always been inside of you, you, you…And now it’s time to let it through.”
I have like so many have focused on too much negativity the past four years. I must recalibrate, refocus on possibilities, soak in the goodness of just being alive,…and loving more and hating less!
It is about the world our kids and grandkids will inherit. We must SPREAD HOPE but we must take action.
TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK.
Stay tuned.
