The memory of faces is what I always bring home from travels far and near. The image above is a precious memory of a Balinese dancer. Years ago, we rented a large villa for the entire family in Canggu, Bali with a staff of 18 including 3 chefs, a full-time masseuse, a driver and 24-hour armed security. Marla’s prognosis after a year of horrendous cancer treatments was touch and go… so we decided to seize the day and make a big-time splurge to share our love of Bali with the family. On Mothers’ Day I surprised Marla with a private Balinese dance and gamelan orchestra performance at our villa. We had a total of 20+ performers! Marla cried when she saw it. I’ll never forget it!
