Many of you enjoyed my post on “Silent Morning walks” so here is another segment. For all you early risers…let’s go exploring! The “Sacred Way”, next to the Ming Tombs outside of Beijing, is truly beautiful and very peaceful…especially if you go early before the tourist buses arrive!
While visiting Morocco we really enjoyed a private morning tour of Rabat’s Kasbah of the Udayas.
My friend Philippe and I enjoyed a bike tour in southwestern France. Riding west first thing in the morning next to the Herault River we came upon the enchanted village of Saint Guilhem le Desert.
Being a Bogart fan, I’ll borrow his famous phrase from “Casablanca”…“We’ll Always Have Paris.” On the first morning of our July trip to Paris I went out to explore my favorite arrondissement, the 6th. I desperately needed a coffee, but the silent streets had a stronger pull!
On the Rue de Buci.
These chairs will be filled in a few hours!
I never tire of Paris!
On the steep portion of Cuesta del Realejo in Granada. The Hotel Alhambra Palace is above the vine covered wall.
The ancient hillside village of Sassetta on the coastal side of Tuscany is gorgeous. I rode through it on a bike tour and found it very charming.
A quiet lane in a tiny Tuscan village.
A quiet passageway in the Umbrian town of Spello.
The island of Guernsey never fails to enchant. Saint Martins is our favorite parish. We discovered some very tiny lanes for exploration.
On our 2019 Guernsey trip I got up early and walked around all by myself. This is High Street in town.
The Commercial Arcade in St. Peter Port, Guernsey.
A cobbled lane off of Mill Street, St. Peter Port.
St. Peter Port has a number of beautiful steep steps. This is “Constitution Steps” off of Market Street.

Visitors and locals alike love Guernsey’s “Cliff Paths” bordering the sea. There are a total of 42 miles of paths on the island. The one above is near Moulin Huet Bay.
An early morning exploration of Le Suquet, the ancient old town on a hill in Cannes.
A lovely trail in Golden Gate Canyon State Park west of Denver. Go early before the trail is full of noisy hikers!
