While researching interesting places to dine before our August trip to the island of Corfu, I read about a restaurant in old Corfu town which looked beautiful as well as romantic. They required a hefty online deposit with the reservation. The reviews were good so we gave “The Venetian Well” a try and were so happy we did!
We drove to town then walked toward Kremasti Square to the restaurant next to the ancient Venetian fountain. We were greeted by two beautifully attired hostesses who showed us to our table.
Marla, Mary and Jerry peruse the menu. Note the date on the well…1699.
The inside rooms were nice, but I reserved an outside table which was perfect for such a warm evening.
The outside dining area was superbly romantic!
I’ll share a few photos of our selections. This was a variation of gazpacho.
Delicious shrimp.
Mary’s soup.
Jerry’s starter of sliced fish.
We enjoyed very nice wines from Greece selected by the sommelier.
A type of risotto with mushrooms and shaved truffle.
A beautifully designed plate of fish.
I loved the filet with truffle.
Our desserts were beautifully prepared and delicious as well.
This bike belongs to the restaurant and of course has a wine bottle carrier. I must find one of these for my bike!
I took this happy shot of Jerry and Marla as we left the restaurant.
The restaurant has an extensive cellar of Greek and other wines from France and Italy.
Mary leads the way back to our car.
I’ve enjoyed some wonderful meals so far in 2022, but the Venetian Well is at the top of my list!
