Our friend Patra asked us to attend the “Go Red For Women” luncheon at the Denver Botanical gardens for the American Heart Association. She said there were two seats available at a sponsor’s table. We were very happy to say “Yes.”
“Since 2004, the American Heart Association, devoted to a world of healthier lives for all, has engaged more than 2 million women to learn their risk of heart disease and stroke, and take powerful steps to take charge of their health through its Go Red for Women movement. While advocacy and educational campaigns focused on heart disease have made great strides in improving knowledge and attitudes among women, health disparities still exist among and between women.“

The heart event truly hit home for me! It bought back memories of driving Marla in the early morning darkness for an hour from north of Bodega Bay to the hospital in Santa Rosa in 2021. We thought she was having a heart attack or COVID. During her week long stay she was diagnosed with heart failure among other heart related issues. Her heart pump was too weak to deal with the fluid building in her lungs. The doctors and nurses were amazing! Sadly, I couldn’t enter or visit at the hospital due to COVID. Patients in the rooms on both sides of her died of COVID. Marla was very fortunate for her care!
There were many educational booths set up during the cocktail hour outside. Marla picked this informative lens cleaner from Health One.

The event began with interesting speakers.
Marla and I have supported one of the sponsors, Project Angel Heart, for years. They do an amazing job delivering food to heart patients and others who need help.
I love this woman in…RED!
We had a lovely day!
