A DAY AT THE MUSEUM

On a beautiful October day last year we all took the trolley to visit the Dallas Art Museum. We wanted to see an exhibition of Asian Textiles. The Dallas Arts District features other interesting museums such as the Nasher Sculpture Center and the Crow Collection of Asian Art. This brought back memories of when my grandparents took me to visit the DeYoung Museum in San Francisco as a small boy.

We are excited to see the exhibit!

“Hmmm,…what could that be?”

The Girls were fascinated by all the artifacts on display.

I suggested we would all pick out our favorite Asian Textile. Kate loved this ikat woven Uzbek robe.

“I really love this one Papa!”

Owen picked this 19th century Japanese fireman’s outfit.”

Vaughan picked the 19th century Chinese five-clawed dragon robe.”

They were intrigued with the Japanese Fireman’s outfit!

Marla was fascinated with the intricate detail on the “five-clawed Dragon jacket.

I first fell in love with Opulent ikat woven robes from Central Asia during an early visit to an antique show at San Francisco’s Fort Mason.

“Mimi,….look at this one!”

The Egyptian sarcophagus caused quite a stir!

Now it’s time for some Museum fun!

Marla and Stacy had so much fun watching everyone!

“Look,…I made a heart!”

“Look at mine!”

We all had a wonderful day at the Museum!

This image touched my heart!
