CAN’T YOU HEAR ME KNOCKING?

I’m fascinated by door knockers. They come in all shapes and sizes. An ancient door knocker in Paris is pictured above.

A ”Hand Of Fatima” knocker wards off evil spirits.

A brass door knocker in Rabat, Morocco.

A hand door knocker symbolizes “warding off the evil eye.” Menton, France.

An ancient knocker.

A brass hand.

An all-seeing lion.

A beautiful, colorful ancient door with double door knockers in Marrakesh, Morocco.

An ancient door knocker in the old town of Cannes.

Dual door knockers in lawyers’ offices in Taormina, Sicily.

Marrakesh doors.

Istanbul door with a brass knocker.

A door with beautiful iron work in Capri.

A blue door.

The imposing lion.

A door in Cannes.

A blue door in the 6th arrondissement in Paris. Adjacent to this door are plaques commemorating two 19-year-old French young men who died on that spot August 18 and 19 for the Liberation of Paris during the Nazi occupation.

I like the symbolism of this door knocker.

    Dear Dick
I cannot believe that in your article about knockers you do not
make a reference to the movie of Mel brooks ,
Young Frankenstein , when Marty Feldman and
Gene Wilder knock on the door twice ,I said twice, using the knocker on the door of the castle
Then the door is opened by Madeline Kahn showing a great décolleté and Gene Wilder says ( what a pair of knockers !)
These are the knockers I like the most .
    Amitiés
    Philippe
