W456, GUN BARREL CITY TEXAS

The Thanksgiving Holiday brought a few very happy surprises. We had the whole family together at our daughter’s lake house on Cedar Springs Reservoir, a little over an hour south of Dallas. We loved seeing the grandkids have fun together as in special times past. I witnessed the competitive spirit of our 9-year-old granddaughters in Scrabble games, running with older brother Vaughan, and riding their bikes with me. But one of the biggest surprises was brunch at W456 Restaurant in Gun Barrel, City! (Yes…it’s called Gun Barrel City!) I found myself saying to our waitress…“I would like to order your filet, medium rare, a nice bottle of Cabernet, and an extra-large helping of…GLITZ and GLAMMER!”

W456 was a totally amazing experience from start to finish and a wonderful treat! It is a fine dining restaurant, a cocktail lounge, outdoor patio, and gift shop…all done up with the glitz knob turned to 11! I LOVED it!

Up a few stairs from the main dining room is a unique room for private parties.

It was set up for a woman’s 80th birthday celebration. I have a feeling she must have just loved it! The maximum seating is for 30 and they have a $5,000 dollar minimum.

Next door is a special room for cocktails. Marla and Lisa loved the over-done decor!

As my grandson Paxton once told me at 6 years old when I mentioned I thought he was having too much of something, “Papa…I like too much!”

I could definitely enjoy a cocktail with chill background music in this place.

I love stained glass lamps!

Wine or cocktails?

Marla’s mom loved a bit of glitz and glam in her day. I could see her holding court from this chair.

Another round please!

A jewel-toned fantasia!

Lisa checks out the gift shop next door. I love that they encourage bringing your wine glasses into the store!

I bet their outdoor patio would be fun in warmer months.

These napkins say it all…“Go Sparkly or Go home.”
